You asked, and we listened. Houston Voice Studio is piloting guitar and piano lessons for singers featuring singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Josh Villanueva! Unlike traditional classical instrument lessons, we’ll be diving right into playing chords and arranging pop songs with the ultimate goal of self-accompany at performances and in practice. In this program, we will:
Learn music theory essentials.
Learn foundational chords and chord progressions
Develop rhythmic patterns for guitar and piano specific to your repertoire of choice.
Master coordination between playing and singing
Develop practice strategies to continue to grow inside and outside of the studio.
This program is only available to current HVS members as a supplement to their voice study.
Lessons are only available in person at Houston Voice Studio.

Josh Villanueva
As a lifelong instrumentalist, I’m passionate about empowering singers to play instruments and develop the musical knowledge needed to write their own songs.
With over 15 years of musical experience, my greatest strength is versatility. I bring a rich background in both instrumental and vocal pedagogy, which allows me to help singers bridge the gap between these disciplines. Whether you’re an aspiring singer-songwriter or a performer seeking to enhance your stage presence, I can guide you through the art of self-accompaniment.

Lessons
All sessions are 30 minutes, one-on-one, in person at Houston Voice Studio.
Choose piano or guitar.
Beginners and advanced instrumentalists are welcome.
Available Lesson Times/Schedule
1:00-6:00 pm on Sundays from August 30 to December 20.
All lesson times are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis
Package Options
8-week 30-minute sessions (Aug 30 to Oct 18 or October 25 to December 20): $440
16-week 30-minute sessions (Aug 30 to Dec 20): $800

Reschedule Options
Can’t make your lesson? Rescheduled lessons will be offered on an as-possible basis and utilize our reschedule form. Because of Josh’s limited availability, we recommend selecting a time option that works consistently for your schedule.
